Victor Bohdan Lebedovych, 82, of Syracuse, New York, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

A dedicated servant to his country and community, Victor lived a life defined by honor, compassion, and devotion to those he loved.

Victor proudly served in the United States Army for 26 years as a General Surgeon, retiring with distinction. His military service earned him numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, ARC Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star.

Beyond his military career, Victor gave generously of his time and talents to his community. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, volunteered at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, participated in the UNWLA Sponsorship Program and Meals on Wheels, and was an active supporter of the Central New York Cat Coalition, Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Syracuse Stage, and Landmark Theater.

In his leisure time, Victor enjoyed fitness, road marching, reading, movies, travel, and dining out with his beloved wife. He was a passionate Michigan football fan and loved a good game of Scrabble and downhill skiing. His tender heart extended to his four cats — Squire, Bandito, Zuzu, and Tamara — and his bunny, Barney.

Victor was predeceased by Milas Lebedovych; and Lydia Kazewich.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lebedovych; his daughter, Lisa Marie Avery; his son, Victor Paul Lebedovych, and daughter-in-law Karen; his daughter, Kristin Borrelli; his siblings, Alexander O. Lebedovych and Svetlana Korduba; and his three grandchildren, Carsen, Emerson, and Tristan.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
