Thomas G. Murphy, 71, of Onondaga Hill, died June 25, 2020 following an extended illness. Tom was born in Syracuse in May, 1949, to the late Philip J. and Mildred Frawley Murphy. He attended St. Anthony School and graduated from Central Tech. in 1967. He was employed as a Deputy Sheriff in Onondaga County in the 1970s and 80s, culminating his service with the rank of Captain in charge of Personnel. He attended Syracuse University and earned AB, MPA and JD degrees. He worked as an Attorney-at-Law, mostly self-employed, from 1981-2018.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol (Disbrow), and three children Larissa Morales of Syracuse, Kelly Miller (Jason) of Clay, Philip of Bronx, and granddaughter Willa Morales. In addition, brother John (Connie), stepdaughters Julie Rejman (Daniel), Nicole Foley (Chris), and Michelle Haff (Tyler St. Cyr), seven step-grandchildren, brother-in-law Daniel Murphy, and many nieces and nephews mourn his loss. Tom was pre-deceased by his sister Phyllis in 2009.

In addition to his love and devotion to family, he deeply enjoyed spending time near and on the St. Lawrence River and at his camp on Wellesley Island. Many thanks are given to the wonderful staff at Iroquois Nursing Home, especially the nurses, aides, and therapists.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Thursday July 2, 2020 at St. Michael's Church, 4782 W Seneca Turnpike Syracuse, NY 13215.Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave Syracuse, NY 13219.
