It is with heavy hearts that we remember the life and legacy of Susan Beck Payne, who unexpectedly passed away at her Syracuse, New York home on Monday, August 7th, 2023, at the age of 59. Susan's journey began on December 12th, 1963, in Poughkeepsie, New York, a place that witnessed the early chapters of her life.
Growing up in Poughkeepsie, Susan attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School. Her passion for understanding the human mind led her to SUNY Oswego, where she embarked on a journey of higher learning, pursuing her studies in Psychology. Armed with knowledge and a compassionate heart, Susan ventured to Syracuse, New York, where she weaved the fabric of her family and career.
Susan was dedicated to her job as a Care Manager at Prime Care Coordination where she was adored by her clients and left a lasting impression. Susan was a woman of extraordinary wit and humor. With a quick wit and a vibrant spirit, she had a gift for making those around her burst into laughter. She was a phenomenal cook who once won the Syracuse Post Standard's Cook of the Week award which led to her getting recognized in Wegman's quite often.
She is predeceased by her parents; Charles John Beck and Margaret Osterhoudt Beck. She is survived by her two daughters; Mackenzie Elizabeth Payne and Haley Marie Payne and their father, Peter Payne. She is also survived by her five siblings; Catherine Wood, Stephen Beck (Linda), Deborah Larew, Michael Beck (Meredith) and Elizabeth Capano (Mark). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends including the "Speculator Gang" who loved and adored her.
Calling hours will be held Monday August 14, 2023 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home (3180 Bellevue Avenue Syracuse New York 13219) from 4pm to 6:30pm. A ceremony will take place after the calling hours at 6:30pm.
