She is survived by her children, Richard B. Elder, Jr. and Joyce Elder. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Carl E. Zorn and Minnie B. Zorn. 

In keeping with her wishes and those of her family, a private burial service was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, New York.
