Robert A. Gensler, 83, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at Guthrie Hospital, Cortland, NY.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert and Mary Agnes Gensler. He graduated from St. Andrews Seminary and later earned his degree from Le Moyne College.

Robert enjoyed a long career with National Grange Insurance where he worked until his retirement.

Robert found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, working in his yard, and caring for his home. Whether mowing the lawn in the summer or shoveling driveways in the winter, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. His kindness, generosity, and strong work ethic will be remembered by all who knew him. He loved baseball and especially the NY Yankees.

He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Chuck) Kreis and grandchildren Gabby and Robbie. His brothers John, Thomas and James (Ann) and his sister, Marianne (Bill) Herron; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Jeanne Gensler, and his granddaughter, Emily.

Private funeral services were held at Most Holy Rosary Chapel.
