Michael J. Shanahan, 83, of LaFayette, NY passed away Thursday September 7, 2023.

Born in Syracuse on July 2, 1940 to the late Edward & Irene Shanahan. Mike served in the NAVY before going on to work for HSBC Bank where he was a mortgage underwriter. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in LaFayette. Mike was a legendary Model Railroader and was a member of the CNY Model Railroad Club, National Model Railroad Association. He received the Master Modeler award and was published in many international magazines.

Mike was predeceased by his parents and his brother Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, son, Michael T., sisters, Mary (Peter) Losurdo, Patty (Tom) Novak and Kathy (Phillip) Oaten as well as a grand-daughter, Reagan Shanahan.

A memorial service will be held on September 24, 2023 from 1-4pm at the LaFayette Fire Dept.
