It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Joseph Moriarty of Syracuse, NY announces his passing at the age of 85, on September 29, 2026. Michael was born Nov. 18, 1940 in Syracuse, NY. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and headed off to boot camp at Camp Lejeune, beginning his four years of service. His military service was one of his proudest accomplishments. After working on the railroad for a short time he joined the US Postal Service where he retired after 30 years of service.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Teresa and John Moriarty, his loving grandmother, Florence Compeau, son, Jimmy, daughter, Linda.

Surviving are his loving, wife, Janice, son, Michael, stepchildren, Theresa (Sean) Spencer, Carol (Randy) Cardinell, Andy (Laurie) Rhoads, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. John Charles, Dr. Mark Pisik, and Dr. Syed Hasan for the exceptional care they provided to Michael over the past 25 years.

To celebrate Michael’s life relatives and friends, may call and gather on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11am at the funeral home.
