Matthew Thomas Kompf died unexpectedly on March 29, 2023. Matthew was born on February 11, 1960 in Syracuse. He attended Most Holy Rosary until the high school closed, graduating from Assumption High School.  After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice from Brockport College he held a number of jobs in the Syracuse area including working for the Syracuse Diocese. He was employed by the City of Syracuse at the time of his death.

Matt enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends as well as his yearly family vacations in the Adirondacks. He was a kind person with a good heart.

Matt was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Anne (Fehr) Kompf.

He is survived by his three brothers, Donald (Dorothy), Martin, Michael (Caroline), four sisters, Karen Lewis, Susanne, Mary Bartowski (Daniel), Lisa, 14 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews

Calling Hours will be at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave Syracuse on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 9-11am followed by funeral services at 11am.
