Mark Healy
Ludington
April 1, 1951 – July 24, 2020
Mark "Lead" Ludington died peacefully on Friday, July 24th surrounded by loved ones. Mark was born April 1, 1951 in Syracuse, New York to Patricia (Healy) and Richard A. Ludington, Sr.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, brother, Christopher and his beloved wife, Katherine (Kate) McCabe Ludington. He is survived by stepchildren, Madeleine Celeste (Matthew) McCabe and Julia (Aodhan) Freake of Toronto, Ontario and a step-granddaughter, Lillith Freake; sisters, Amy (Rod) Sutton of Saratoga Springs and Sarah Ludington of Syracuse; brother, Richard (Sheila) of Syracuse; sisters-in-law, Susan Ludington of Morrisville, VT and Nancy Smith, and brother-in-law, Larry Hickey of Pittsford, NY, as well as 11 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews.
Mark graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and Cornell University before completing his MBA at Fordham University. After graduating college, Mark moved to New York City where he lived and worked most of his adult life. He returned to Syracuse in the early 2000's and worked in advertising sales. After the death of Mark's soul mate Kate, he was inspired to volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital working with people battling cancer and their families.
Mark enjoyed spending time with family and good friends, many of which he had for over 50 years. Mark was a voracious reader, and lover of music (he was fortunate to see many iconic musicians in their prime), film (he never saw a Gary Oldman movie he didn't like), history and art. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Boston Red Sox. He had a quick wit, a contagious laugh and an easy smile. Mark was gentle, kind and extremely loyal. He had the uncanny ability when speaking with you to make you feel like you were the only person in the room. Mark's warm embracing spirit, his love, devotion, friendship and compassion will be missed by the people who had the good fortune to know him. Rest in peace.
A Memorial Mass in Mark's honor will be held on November 7, 2020 at 10am at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse, NY 13207
