Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret "Peggy" Tracy, 70, passed away at home on Friday, December 23, 2022, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Syracuse, NY on July 9, 1952, Peggy was the sixth of nine children born to William and Margaret Kelly. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary and attended SUNY Oswego College. She worked briefly at Niagara Mohawk before following her passion to teach. Peggy spent the majority of her teaching career teaching kindergarten at Millard Hawk Elementary School in the Central Square School District and Long Branch Elementary School in the Liverpool School District.
Peggy enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved family vacations, traveling down south with her husband and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Peggy is predeceased by her father and mother, William and Margaret Kelly; four brothers, Thomas (Patricia), Lawrence, Richard and Michael Kelly; and nephew Christopher Kelly.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Vaughn Tracy; twin daughters Meghan (Christopher) Hurley and Colleen (Dennis) Lavin; four grandchildren: Thomas, Ryan, Keara and Patrick; two brothers William (Kathleen) Kelly, John (Patricia) Kelly; two sisters Kathleen (Gary) Spicer, Ann (Arthur) Ruston; sister-in-laws Carol Ann Kelly, Kathleen Kelly-Galutz and Maria Kelly; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 29th from 4-7pm at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. A mass will be held on Friday, December 30th at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, 216 N. Lowell Avenue, to celebrate Peggy's life. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA).
