Hennigan
August 14, 1925 – March 8, 2023
Margaret McAnulty Hennigan (Peg), 97, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Peg was a native of Philadelphia, PA, and a graduate of Rosemont College in Pennsylvania. She married her husband, John J. Hennigan, Jr., on August 23, 1947. Peg was a longtime member of Most Holy Rosary Parish and active in many church-related organizations, such as the Christian Family Movement. She volunteered at a variety of other organizations, such as the Mothers Club at CBA, the Religious Ed Department at- Harrison Center, Literacy Volunteers of CNY, and St Camillus.
Peg was loved by all who knew her, and cherished by her family. She was supportive of every family member's accomplishments, and constantly encouraged all; her favorite phrase was "everything will be all right." Mom/Grandma was always the one we called for prayers.
She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John J Hennigan Jr; her mother: Claire Cahill McAnulty; her father, James T McAnulty Jr; her brother: James T McAnulty, I (Renee); her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peg and Irving Potter; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert D. and Virginia Hennigan; and life-long friends Jeanne Ryan, Anne Kelly, Peg Piontkowski and Rosemary Stack.
Surviving to cherish Peg's memory are her thirteen children: John (Roseanne); Mary Soehner (Mike); Kathryn; Timothy (Anne); Dennis (Karen); Paul (Huong); Margaret Bie (Arthur); Brian (Nancy); Anne Cabal (Andy); Terri Parker (Kappy); William; Martha; and Michael. There are also twenty-four beautiful grandchildren; and twenty-eight loving great-grandchildren to honor Peg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be on Friday, March 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt.
