Marcella McEvoy Lonergan, 96, of Syracuse, NY passed away on March 26, 2026. She and her twin sister Mary were born January 16, 1930 in Preble, NY, daughter of the late George and Helen Kane McEvoy. Marcella graduated from Homer Central School in 1947 and attended Hobart and William Smith College. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Paul D. Lonergan. Together they were founding members of St. Ann's Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Barbara (Kevin) Mahaney, Susan (John) Basto, Mary Lamb, and Ann (Robert) Matus and son, Edward (Susie), sister, Velma (Bill) Lindberg, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marcella was also predeceased by her brother, Dr. Richard McEvoy and his wife, Caroline, sisters, Katherine McEvoy and Mary Watson and her husband, Bernard, a son-in-law, Ron Lamb, and nephew, Patrick McEvoy.
Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Charles – St. Ann's Church. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow visitation with Internment at St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marcella's memory to St. Charles – St. Ann's Church, www.stcharlesandstanns.org.
