Kathryn Ann (Burke) Corcoran of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on October 2, 2026.
Kathy was born on August 10, 1949, to Edward and Harriott (nee Gooley) Burke in Syracuse, New York. She was a proud alumna of Saint Rose of Lima Elementary School and Bishop Ludden High School. After graduating from Daemen College in Buffalo, New York, in 1972, she married Thomas Corcoran in 1973 and was a steadfast military spouse for 23 years supporting the family and volunteering until settling in Burke, Virginia in 1990. She managed the office for Burke Healthcare Solutions, formerly Balsamo, Arnoldson, Rees, and Garner Pediatrics, in Burke, Virginia for 20 years before retiring and moving to Columbia, Missouri. In Columbia, she volunteered regularly for many years at Up To Good, formerly the Assistance League of Mid-Missouri.
Throughout her life Kathy was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church and led a life of service, contributing to her community wherever she lived. Her family meant the world to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Kathryn is remembered for her undying love of her family and inexhaustible energy caring for others ahead of herself. She carried herself with an unmistakable sense of class and grace, with an impeccable eye for fashion and a timeless style.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom, her daughter Michelle Baumstark and husband Frank and their children Tierney and Emma of Columbia, Missouri, her son, Joseph Corcoran and wife Ashley and their children Olivia and Benjamin of Leesburg, Virginia. She also leaves behind her brother, Edward Burke III and his wife Geri of Waynesboro, Georgia, and their children, Crispin, Emilie, and Amanda. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on October 8, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, Missouri. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt, New York, on October 26, 2026, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lung Cancer Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Donations to LCRF may be made online at https://give.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org/donate.
