John Thomas Kane (Tom), 79, of Fairmount, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Tom was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
He graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy and the University of Cincinnati. Tom served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1972 earning a national defense service medal. He was a self-employed salesman who operated J.T. Kane Associates and worked at Butler Disposal Systems.
Tom's true joy came from spending time with his loved ones and pursuing his hobbies. He had an enduring love for golf and many memories made with his dear friends. Tom was a valued member of Bellevue Country Club and Tuscarora Country Club, where he formed lasting friendships sharing countless rounds of golf.
Tom was a man of immense love and dedication to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, James P. and Mary Kane, a brother, James, and a son, Michael Christopher Kane.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, who remained by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Tom was also a devoted father to his sons, Patrick (Janine) of Tampa, and Brian (Christina) of Newfield. He took immense pride in watching them grow into successful individuals and nurtured their dreams and aspirations. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Margaret Dela Garza of Syracuse, niece Margaret Mary Paraino, and grandsons, Andrew and Nathan Hilt.

Tom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love will remain forever in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held Thursday July 6, 2023 at 11am at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave Syracuse, NY. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:30-11 am prior to the service. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt.
