Obituary

James J. Fahey Jr. passed away on July 23, 2020. He was born on January 11, 1944 to James J. and Mary (McGuire) Fahey. He attended Most Holy Rosary School, Christian Brothers Academy and graduated from William Nottingham High School. He received an Associate Arts Degree from Onondaga Community College and a Bachelor of science from the University of Tennessee. Following his college graduation, he joined Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) in which he organized community projects in McKee, Kentucky. He was a career public servant and was employed as a Senior Caseworker for the Onondaga County Department of Social Services serving elderly clients in the Adult Protective Unit.

Jim loved to travel both in the United States and abroad. He was a rabid Tennessee Volunteers fan and had an encyclopedic knowledge of Syracuse high school sports teams, records and scores. He was a self-confessed political junkie who read the Almanac of American Politics from cover to cover as soon as it was published and he could retain absolutely precise facts and figures about every contested political race in the volume. He was also a voracious reader of historical and political biographies. If you couldn't find Jim at home, you could find him at Barnes and Noble.

He was a loyal and loving brother and devoted uncle.

He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Mary J. Fahey and Jane Fahey-Suddaby.

He is survived by his brothers, Charles M. Fahey and Joseph E. Fahey (Terri Bright), his nieces, Meghan Fahey (Robert Poyer) and Katharine Fahey-Sheedy (Ben Sheedy), Michelle Saraceni (Raymond Allen) , nephews Conor and Ryan Suddaby, his brother-in-law, Judge Glenn T. Suddaby (Jill) and sister-in-law, Katharine H. ( Trink) Fahey and grandnieces Claire Gaffey, Jane Poyer, Corine Allen and grandnephews, Braydon Poyer and Ian Allen.
