James "Jim" Edward Briggs, 66, of Solvay, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Jim was a longtime resident of Solvay and retired from his career in security at the Onondaga County Convention Center. He was known as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and fiancé who cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Lisa Kelley; his daughter, Danielle Fletcher; his sons, Jesse Briggs and Jimmy Briggs Jr. (Alyssa Armstrong); his stepsons, Tison Kelley (Magdalena Grzegowska) and Nate Kelley (Brittany Conte), his brother, Brian Thomas (Vicki Thomas), stepbrother Charles Thomas; stepsister Charlotte Mitchell and his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his stepfather, Charles F Thomas; his father, Ted (Irving) Briggs, his beloved grandson, Caleb Ryan Briggs and stepsister Faye Taylor
Jim leaves behind a lifetime of memories including his love for the time he spent with his fiancée Lisa and their cats Midnight and Sunrise, boating on Onieda Lake, being an avid bowler, and cooking and entertaining for family and friends. He was most famous for his New England clam chowder and his accomplishment of throwing seven no hitters in high school baseball. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 1832 and VFW Post 3146. His presence will be missed, but the love he shared with his family and the memories they made together will remain in their hearts forever.
Rest in peace, James. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
