Grace Audrey (McDermott) Grey, 90, of Tipperary Hill, Syracuse, died peacefully at The Nottingham on July 31, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born in New York City to parents, John V. McDermott and Agnes (Daly) McDermott, she was a graduate of St. Jean the Baptist School. She began a career as a secretary to the photographers at LIFE Magazine. With her husband, Danny, they raised six children in Queens NY. They relocated to Syracuse and were communicants at St. Charles Borromeo Church. She was a homemaker for many years, and later resumed her secretarial career, working for the District Attorney of Onondaga County. Her greatest love was her family and her Catholic faith.
Grace was predeceased by husband, Daniel J. Grey, two brothers, John and James, two sisters, Marion and Barbara, and grandsons, Dominic Impelizzieri and Zachary Swan. Surviving are her children, Nancy (Charles) Impelizzieri of Mattydale NY, Carolyn Grey of Augusta GA, Alison (Paul) Estes of Cincinnati OH, Patricia (Russell) Johnson of Ashland VA, Linda (Mark) Swan of Tully NY, and Daniel (Kelly) Grey of Austin TX, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone at the Nottingham RHCF who cared for Grace over the last four years.
Friends may call on Tuesday August 2, from 5-7PM at St. Margaret Church, 200 Roxboro Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8AM on Wednesday August 3, at St. Margaret Church followed by a private burial at the Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bishop Ludden High School, 815 Fay Rd, 13219 or New Hope Family Services, 3519 James Street, 13206.
Holy Mary Our Blessed Mother, pray for her. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on her soul.
