George K. Ackerman, 66, of Syracuse, NY, passed away at home on Friday, May 3, 2024.  He was born August 23, 1957. George loved sports and was a life-long fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was also passionate about music, (especially The Grateful Dead) and his love for discovering new musicians never waned. He was an avid reader, a prolific writer, and a lover of all art - the stranger, the better. He was hilarious, intelligent, and deeply insightful. One of his most significant accomplishments in his life was his sobriety; he celebrated 28 years in March. George often said that his greatest contributions to the world were his children, Lee and Jenny.

George was predeceased by his son, Lee Costello Ackerman, sister, Ann Jamison, brother in-law, Marvin Jamison, and sister in-law, Patrice Ackerman.

He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Ackerman and her mother, Maureen Ackerman, sisters, Penny (Tom) McNaught, Ida (Jay) Costello, and Alice Ackerman, brothers, Ken Ackerman (Kim), Joe Ackerman, and Mike Ackerman, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tipp Hill American Legion Post on June 2, 2024 from 2pm - 6pm. 1951 West Fayette St, Syracuse, NY 13204
