Mrs. Evon (Jadon) Hodge, 91, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026 at her home in Syracuse, New York. Born on October 12, 1934 in Jaffa, Palestine, she lived a remarkable life filled with devotion to her family, faith, and community. Evon dedicated her professional life to education as an ESL teacher in the Syracuse City School District. She worked closely with Arabic speaking school age children, many of whom maintained their connection with her throughout the years- a testament to her profound impact as a mentor and an educator. A woman of deep faith, Evon was a devoted member of Saint Elias Orthodox Church in Syracuse, New York. Her commitment to her church was unwavering; she actively participated in the ladies auxiliary and served as its president for multiple years. Her faith and service were central to her life and brought her immense joy. 

Evon was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fuad Hodge. She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Hodge, Mona Gantos, Gigi (Michael) Hotaling; grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) O’Connor, Peter Gantos, Matthew Gantos, Alecsandra Hotaling, John (Gabrielle) Mitrzyk and Christian Hotaling and the apples of her eye, great grandsons, Parker, and Dawson O’Connor. 

Known for her exceptional culinary talent, Evon had a particular gift for preparing her native Middle Eastern cuisine that delighted all that had the privilege of sharing a meal with her. She also possessed extraordinary skill as a seamstress. And took pride in passing on this skill to her daughters. Evon’s legacy is one of love, dedication and generosity. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM at St. Elias Church, 4988 Onondga Rd. Funeral will be private, immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Evon's memory may be made to St. Elias Church.
