Eliza
Walls
December 20, 1949 – April 9, 2026
The following is written in honor of Eliza Anna Wyszynska Fleymer Walls who was born on 12/20/1949 and passed away on 04/09/2026. As a unique woman, she deserves a unique obituary. Eliza wore many hats in her life, mother, babcia, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, entrepreneur, mediator, gardener, friend, baker, patient-advocate, animal lover, and champion of reproductive and human rights. Eliza was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Clyde Walls. She will be missed by many people and is survived by her family and friends and two little dogs, Bella and Sky.
Eliza was dedicated to the idea that one should leave anything you touch better than how it was found. After a long life spent working in hospital administration and HR, she spent her retirement as a licensed mediator and as a volunteer on many different Boards. Eliza filled her free time with gardening, teaching her grandchildren about life, perfecting baking recipes, and doting on her pets. Eliza loved her life, and she loved every person who was a part of it.
Eliza's favorite animal was the elephant. An elephant herd is one of the few species in the animal kingdom led by a matriarch. The matriarch is usually the oldest female, and her presence helps ensure that cultural knowledge is shared, baby elephants reach adulthood, and the most delicious and nutritious food is found. Eliza's love of elephants makes perfect sense to those who knew her.
The Virtual Memorial for Eliza will be held on May 11th, 2026, at 7pm Eastern/6pm Central. Please reach out to Eliza's daughter Niki Bertrand or her son Andrew Bertrand for the Zoom link. In lieu of flowers – please consider a donation to "Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo Elephant Program" to support our goal of raising $5,000, which will directly support the care and needs of the Asian Elephants at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and place a memorial bench inscribed with her name on it. Eliza especially loved visiting the elephants at The Rosamond Gifford Zoo because of their adorable and extremely rare twin baby elephants.
