Eleanor "Ellie" McGaan of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on Sunday, August 22 at Crouse Hospital. The daughter of Alfred and Margaret Taylor, Ellie grew up in the Tipperary Hill section of Syracuse. She was a graduate of LeMoyne College and received a Masters Degree from Syracuse University.
A respected and beloved English teacher for many years at Driver Middle School in Marcellus, Ellie also enjoyed downhill skiing, bridge, golf, book club, fitness programs and travel. In the late '80s, she and her husband, Dean McGaan, moved to Scottsdale where they met many life-long friends and enjoyed a very active and happy social life. They also rented and eventually purchased a home in Skaneateles, and returned there every summer for fun and quality time with local friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Ellie was predeceased by her husband, Dean, sister Margie DeGirolamo and brother Charles "Chuck" Taylor.
Surviving are her stepchildren, Andrew and Allison (Andy) Bidgood; step grandchildren, Duncan, Molly and Finn McGaan and Dean, Evan and Julia Bidgood; brothers, Alfred (Kathie) Taylor, Edwin (Carole) Taylor and Joseph (Mary Ann) Taylor; sisters Kathleen Shetler and Lucy (Alfred) Tyminski; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and partner, Bernie Tauber.
Graveside services at Greenlawn cemetery, Warner NY on Thursday Aug 26 at 10:00 am. All friends and family are welcome
