Obituary

Edward T. Cooper, P. E., 95, of Syracuse, New York , died on August 23, 2025. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and moved to the United States in 1957. Mr. Cooper enjoyed the privilege and honor of both United States and Canadian citizenship. He received a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (Cum Laude) and a Masters degree in Engineering Administration from Syracuse University. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honorary Engineering Society and was a New York StateRegistered Professional Engineer.



Mr. Cooper retired after 28 years with Bristol Meyers Squibb in 1997 where he had been Director of Plant Engineering and Facilities. He had held previous Engineering positions with Allied Chemical Corp. and Philco Corporation in Philadelphia. PA. and Bausch and KLomb, Rochester, NY, He had also worked in the steel, railroad and gold mining industries in Canada.


Predeceased by wife, Gladys of 60 years in 2019, and sister, Theresa Cooper of Rochester New York in 2025. He is survived by his son, Clark Cooper, daughter in law, Linda Cooper in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Canada, nephew, Neal Reaser in Rochester NY, grandchildren, Wendy Falkins in Grand Rapids MI, Steven Cooper in Philippines, Heidi Pearce in Sault. Ste Marie. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; Jacob, Mikaela, Mitchell Falkins in Grand Rapids MI, Katelyn and Austin Pearce in Sault Ste Marie Ontario, Tyler, Connor, Kinzie Cooper in the Philippines.


Mr. Cooper was a member of Toastmasters International, The National Society of Professional Engineers, A life time member of The New York State and Pennsylvania State and the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Wooden Bridges. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing, United States and British history and literature.


He was a Mason and a communicate of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Syracuse, New York.


Calling hours will be held September 2, 2025 from 9-10am at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse. A funeral service will be held immediatly following. Burial will be at a later date.
