Donald "Bear" W. Grolling, 63, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Bear was a facilities manager for Salt City and the Chimes Building. A dedicated supporter of youth athletics, he was a former coach and remained actively involved with Onondaga Youth Wrestling for many years. He was also a lifelong Drum Corps enthusiast and participant, marching with several drum corps over the years, including the Syracuse Brigadiers. His passion for the activity and the friendships he made through drum corps remained an important part of his life.

Bear was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean (Rowe) Grolling.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherene; his children, Madison B. Grolling and Zachary M. Grolling; his sisters, Marsha Grolling Dulen and Wilma Grolling Polizzi; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home.

Due to allergies, the family kindly requests that flowers be omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bear's children in his memory.
