Obituary

DeETT Nunez-Morales, 47, of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Calling hours will take place at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM.

Born in Syracuse, New York, on December 18th, 1978, DeETT graduated from Ashford University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She spent over 20 years working as a childcare provider, both at St. Matthew’s Over the Rainbow Daycare and at her in-home daycare DeETT’s Little Learners. DeETT loved working with kids and treated every one of her “daycare babies” as if they were her own.

DeETT was predeceased by her father, Wayne Robert Todd. She is survived by her significant other, Paul Maroney; her children, Sierra Eastman, Neena Nunez-Morales (Lukas Rodrigues), Nora Maroney, Stella Maroney, and Mason Maroney; her mother, Janet Stevens (Dan Garcea); her siblings, Chuck Todd (Carol Todd), and Nina Todd (Bob Hotchkiss); and all of her nieces and nephews: Allie (Dankwa), Emily, Bella, Cody (Deb), Chris (Liz), Conor, and Micaiah.

DeETT will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering strength and optimism throughout her long battle with cancer, and most of all, her love for her family.

Friends and family are invited to Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday July 7th, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM and are encouraged to wear bright colors in celebration of DeETT.
