Brendan Thomas Sammon, 88, passed away peacefully at the Francis House with his family by his side. Brendan was born in Ballymurray, County Roscommon, Ireland. At the age of 22, he immigrated to the United States, where he later met and married the love of his life, Mary (McCarthy) Sammon. They were married for 54 years, raised five sons and built a life in Marcellus, NY.

Brendan was known for his gift of storytelling and his skill as a talented carpenter. He spent his life working as a remodeler, for the Carpenters Union, and for the City of Syracuse. He was a decades long member of the Syracuse AOH and played Irish football.  After retirement, he continued to use his skills in service to the Syracuse community and St. Patrick's Church. His craftsmanship and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He found his greatest joy in dancing with Mary and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Brendan is predeceased by his wife, Mary, his son, Joseph (Bridget), and siblings, John, Michael, William, Mary, and Joe. He is survived by his sons, John (Carolyn), Brian (Denise), Michael (Jennifer), and David (Kimberly); his brother, Desmond (Mary) Sammon, 11 beloved grandchildren, 1 great grandson and  many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He adored his family and friends and will be forever missed.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY.  Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, May 27, at the Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse, NY. Burial will be private.
